Excavation inside the plant room has paused following the discovery of a hairline crack beneath the hot water tank. Although the tank had been stabilised in earlier works, an audible ‘crack’ prompted immediate inspection and a stop to all activity in the room.

An engineering inspection is underway. A tell-tale crack monitoring system will be installed to measure movement before work resumes. The team believes the earlier stabilisation effort prevented a much more serious failure.
