Slab’s Done, Doors Closed: Claremont Works Wrapped Up

Week Ending 23 December 2024

Douglas, Isle of Man – DGC Ltd is pleased to confirm the successful completion of drainage and reinstatement works at the Claremont Hotel, with the final concrete slab poured and Villiers Lane now fully reopened to both foot and vehicle traffic.

The last phase of the project saw the trench reinstated with MOT-1 hardcore, compacted in layers as per DOI specification, followed by a reinforced concrete slab with an exposed aggregate finish. The slab was completed ahead of the road opening licence deadline, with runoff directed appropriately towards Howard Street and Regent Street.

Internal reinstatement also reached completion, with:
  • New carpet tiles laid throughout the rear basement corridors
  • Fire doors refitted and decorated
  • Concrete steps and handrail installed, including a new door frame and closure
  • Shelving reinstalled and all finishes decorated to a high standard

Special attention was given to tiling around the old soil stack (Zone 1), with a removable access panel now in place for future maintenance.

The new drainage system is now fully operational, and all excavations have been backfilled and signed off. The site has been left clean and safe, with no further works planned.

DGC Ltd would like to thank the hotel team for their cooperation and flexibility, particularly during the unforeseen delays — which were managed successfully thanks to the autonomy granted on site.
