Permission Granted, Road Closed: External Works Begin in Earnest

Date: Week Ending 11 July 2025

With Finch Road now closed to traffic, Removal’s House has entered the next phase of work. Hoardings and signage are in place, and public access has been maintained throughout. The northeast asbestos zone has been fully remediated, with Ferncroft completing safe removal and disposal under strict EM8/EM10 protocols. Machinery has been decontaminated, and the site restored with MOT-1 to bring it back to good order.

Investigations for the new 85kVA connection led to a full trench excavation across the road after attempts to locate a service duct failed. Excavation uncovered numerous live and unmarked services, now logged by MUA. Manx Utilities have also requested two separate drainage chambers for surface and foul water. This requires a redesign, which has been passed to engineers.

Despite the complexity, the team remains on track for road reopening by 11 August 2025.
