Signed Off and Stepped Ahead: Internal Drainage Complete

Date: Week Ending 17 April 2025

It’s been a landmark week for the internal works at Removal’s House, with all internal drainage now signed off by Building Control-two full days ahead of schedule. Manx Utilities dye-tested the drains at St. Barnabas Hill and confirmed no issues. Backfilling and compaction followed quickly across all systems, with the exception of one section due for completion next Wednesday.

Other notable developments:

  • The foul drop shaft was redesigned and approved, prioritising long-term maintenance and lower risk.
  • The rear Gabion wall was filled with C25 concrete and vibrated to ensure strength and durability.
  • Every drain run across the site has passed pressure testing, with only minor, temperature-related fluctuations observed.

On the Southern side, the disabled toilet service line was installed inside the red brick building and is now connected. Excavation beneath the auditorium floor also revealed loose beach stone, which has since been removed and will be replaced with fresh concrete. Work on the central rainwater system is progressing well. MOT-1 deliveries have continued, and trench backfilling remains on programme.
